Llanyblodwel Parish Paths – Can You Help?

All around Shropshire there are volunteer groups helping to look after local public rights of way. These community teams make a real difference to the footpath network – repairing or replacing stiles and gates, clearing vegetation and helping to keep paths open and easy to use.

We would like to set up a similar group here in Llanyblodwel.

The group would be part of the Shropshire “Parish Paths Partnership” (often called “P3”). These P3 groups work alongside parish councils and are supported by Shropshire Council, which supplies the materials and tools needed for agreed projects.

The proposed Llanyblodwel group would be led by local resident David Hardwick, who has recently retired from Shropshire Council’s Rights of Way team. David’s former role involved supporting and working with P3 groups across the county, so he brings plenty of experience in organising and carrying out this kind of work. As a Llanyblodwel resident, he is keen to use that experience to help make our local footpaths more accessible for everyone.

David is already aware of several existing issues on paths in the parish and would like to tackle these first. After that, the aim would be to carry out a more systematic survey of all the parish rights of way to identify further problems. This would then feed into a simple work programme for the group to follow.

You don’t need specialist skills to get involved – just a reasonable level of fitness and an interest in walking and the local countryside. All tools, materials and appropriate guidance will be provided.
